Esther O’Toole is serving her sixth term as trustee for the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board. First elected in 1991, Esther served two terms in Mississauga’s Ward 2. After the provincial government’s reduction of trustees, resulting in amalgamation of wards, she was elected again in Ward 4. In the 2000 election, Esther was asked to run in Ward 9/10, where she is a resident, and was acclaimed.  In the 2003 election Esther O'Toole won the Ward 9/10 seat by a wide margin. Esther has a very active hands on approach with her community and was privileged to have the distinction of being the only elected candidate to be acclaimed in the city of Mississauga for the 2006 municipal election.

As a Catholic school trustee, Esther has served in various capacities of all standing committees. In 2003 and currently 2007, she was elected Vice-Chair of the board. She is past Chair of the Contract Negotiations Committee and the Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC).

In 2005, Esther was asked to be the Vice-President on the Board of Directors for the Eden Food Bank www.edenfoodbank.org which serves the needy families in two postal codes of Ward 9/10. She now serves as the school liaison officer for the board.  In November 2005, she helped spearhead a fundraising campaign for the Food Bank with the participation of schools from both boards in the community. “This awareness from our children has sparked an interest in the corporate community of Ward 9/10 to help the funding needs of the Food Bank. The success of this project has allowed it to be an annual event.”

This Business Development Manager for CTI Working Environments www.ctiwe.com in Mississauga also serves as President of the International Facility Management Association for South Central Ontario www.ifma.org.

Esther is also active in both St. John of the Cross www.saintjohnofthecross.com and Merciful Redeemer parishes www.mercifulredeemer.org.

http://www.littleflower.org/ is her favorite website.

As a former Dufferin-Peel student from Brampton, Esther really enjoys helping parents and being a part of the community. Attending parent council meetings, working with the city council on issues, and witnessing the great things that are happening in our Catholic schools is what she likes best. “Serving my community is not only a great honor; it has allowed me to grow in my own faith.”
