Board and Regisford family resolve Application to Human Rights Tribunal
The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board and the Regisford family have resolved an outstanding Application to the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario to the satisfaction of both parties. The Regisfords are encouraged by the board’s commitment to diversity and equity, and look forward to the ongoing equity initiatives to be introduced in September 2010.

Dufferin-Peel Catholic schools celebrate World Teachers’ Day
The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board will mark United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) World Teachers’ Day with a message to the system recognizing and thanking the board’s 6,700 teachers, and those who support them in the classroom, for their contribution to Catholic education. World Teachers’ Day is celebrated annually on October 5.

On Sunday, October 4, commencing at 10:00 a.m., the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board will launch its 2009 United Way Campaign with one of its most popular United Way fundraisers, the annual Wilf Hartzenberg Memorial 2K-5K Walk/Run/Rollerblade event.

EQAO Results: Growth in mathematics an achievement for Dufferin-Peel students
Results from the spring 2009 administration of the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) Primary Division (Grades 1 – 3) and Junior Division (Grades 4 – 6) assessments of reading, writing and mathematics, and the Grade 9 assessment of mathematics, indicate that Dufferin-Peel students have maintained or improved their achievement on most of the assessments, compared to last year.

Dufferin-Peel opens Parenting and Family Literacy Centres at four elementary schools
On September 21, the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board will open Parenting and Family Literacy Centres in four elementary schools. These centres are located at Canadian Martyrs School and St. Teresa of Avila School in Mississauga, Holy Cross School in Malton and St. Monica School in Brampton.

Dufferin-Peel to open two new Catholic schools this school year
On September 8, the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board will open two new secondary schools in Brampton: Cardinal Ambrozic Catholic Secondary School located at 10 Castle Oaks Crossing and St. Roch Catholic Secondary School located at 200 Valleyway Drive.
