Welcome to the Dufferin-Peel Secondary School Common Course Calendar

Secondary School is an exciting and important stage in your life.  You will begin to lay the foundations for your future aspirations, beyond graduation.  Whether you’re considering going directly to work or pursuing a post-secondary education, the decisions you make during your secondary school years will play a significant role in the path you will ultimately select.

The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is committed to meeting the needs of all students.  Each one called by name, to be nourished, to be sustained, to grow.  This means valuing diversity among learners as well as offering innovative programs that extend learning beyond the classroom setting.  I encourage you to explore all the options available to you.

 

As a Catholic school board, we believe in the education of the whole person. Not only will you learn good moral decision making skills through your formal classes, but you will also participate in an annual retreat and opportunities for religious celebration. Our curriculum extends beyond formal classes and the walls of a school.  By immersing yourself in everything the school has to offer you will gain important life skills in a Catholic context which will serve you well long after you graduate.

 

The course calendar is intended to assist you and your family make informed choices that guide you through the variety of course available in Grades 9 to 12 and that support your future career goals. I encourage you to carefully go through this guide and consult with your parent/guardian(s) to choose the courses that are best suited to your unique goals. Your teachers, counsellors, vice-principals and principal are also available to help with any questions or concerns you may have while making your choices. Consider your interests as well as your educational needs before making your final selections. The decisions you make will help to open a range of future possibilities.

 

The course calendar also features a listing of the services available to you through your school. It includes some career development initiatives and internet sites for further exploration. I would encourage you to make use of these services as they can provide you with the added support to ensure that your secondary school experience is a successful one.
