Confirmation

Confirmation perfects our Baptismal grace; it is the Sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us deeply in the divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthening our bond with the Church and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words and deeds. [Catechism of the Catholic Church 1994 Reference: 1316]

The Church recognizes that our young people are on their own faith journey. As teachers we work with parents, who are the first teacher of their child and the parish priest to instill faith teachings and the gospel message.

At school students are involved in faith activities throughout the school year: daily prayer, Liturgies of the Word and Eucharist, Angel on the Tree, food drives for our local St. Vincent de Paul Society, community service, and classroom celebrations. Students also focus on the Gifts of the Spirit. They look at lives of holy men and women in history who have lived faith filled lives. They read Scripture to enliven their minds with the presence of God’s Spirit, as well as look at how His Spirit is active in our world today. As parents and guardians, you help to involve your child in the parish community by bringing your child to weekend Mass and participation in parish life. Students learn that they are fulfilling their parents promise at their baptism. As young people they now can speak for themselves and say “Yes” to God’s call.

The Confirmation Enrollment Mass is on Sunday, December 11, 2005 at St. Joseph's Parish at 3:30 p.m..
