English-language learning and assessment, TOEFL. The TOEFL measures how well you read, listen, speak and write in English and use these skills together in the university classroom. In some cases, you will need to demonstrate proficiency in English before being admitted to a Canadian college or university. Please check with the school(s) you are applying to for specific requirements.

ü Each additional program/university choice after the initial 3 is $35

January 13, 2010 - The deadline for university online application (Compass.101) for equal consideration.
Dec. 18, 2009 – Holy Name of Mary recommended deadline for completion of university online application (Compass.101)
ü Students will receive a PIN number from the HNM Guidance department in the second half of October. Although OUAC opens the on-line application process Oct 5, 2009, students cannot apply until they receive their PIN number.
ü An in-service for the OUAC application process will be conducted with HNM students on Friday October 23, 2009 during period 1 in the school’s cafeteria.
ü All applicants receive EQUAL CONSIDERATION if they complete their online Compas.101 application with OUAC by January 13, 2010. Students are advised to apply online at OUAC by Dec. 18, 2009. A companion booklet to the Compass.101 application is available at http://www.ouac.on.ca/101/index.html
ü Completing the online application takes only minutes; use the immediate time to research your schools.
You will complete the Compass.101 online application at the OUAC website if you meet the following requirements (COMPASS.101-ONLINE APPLICATION SITE: www.ouac.on.ca/101)
- You are taking courses during the day at an Ontario Secondary School (this includes students returning for second semester and graduated students returning to upgrade one or more courses)
- You will have received or expect to receive your OSSD with six 4U or 4M courses at the end of the current year
- You do not have one year or more of postsecondary education
- You are applying to a diploma program or a first-year degree program at an Ontario university

Target date for the OUAC to receive all electronic student data files from Ontario secondary schools for both hardcopy and online applications. This file will include final grades for grade 11 and 12 subjects.

Holy Name of Mary Report Card Distribution
December 17, 2009
Last day for Grade 12 students to drop a subject from their timetable so that it is not included on their transcript. After this date, universities will see the subject appear on the transcript.

Deadline (set by OUAC) for Ontario secondary school students to submit completed online applications to the OUAC.

Target date for Ontario universities to receive (from the OUAC) all application data and grades for all applications submitted by January 13, 2010.

Recommended last date for students to submit all information to the OUAC, including university and program changes, as well as additional active choices, to be eligible for consideration for early admission. Please note: This is not a deadline date. Changes will be accepted and processed by the OUAC at any time.

Deadline date for Ontario secondary schools to report, to the OUAC, midterm grades for second-semester courses and interim grades for full-year courses. Grades that the OUAC receives earlier will be transmitted to Ontario universities when received.

Target date for the Ontario universities to receive, from the OUAC, second-semester midterm grades and interim grades for full-year courses. Grades that the OUAC receives earlier will be transmitted to Ontario universities when received.
May 25, 2010
The latest date by which all secondary school applicants shall expect a response from an Ontario university. Such a response will be one of:
1) an offer of admission;
2) a refusal; or
3) a deferral pending the receipt of specific additional information.

Applicants are expected to become familiar with and observe the application procedures at each school to which they apply. Ensure that you review instructions thoroughly as you are responsible for submitting correct and complete information.
YOU (THE APPLICANT) will:
Conduct the necessary research using eINFO, the comprehensive guide to Ontario Universities for secondary school students at www.electronicinfo.ca, through university handbooks, university visits, the University Information Program (UIP), parents and guidance counsellors to determine your university programs.
Meet university-specific admission deadlines (e.g., for the submission of portfolios, interviews, auditions).
Complete the online application and pay the applicable fees by the stipulated deadline dates.
Verify that all information provided on the online application is correct and complete.
Keep the OUAC, and therefore the universities, informed of changes to your personal information and university/program selections through the online "Review and Change Your Completed Application" system.
Contact your guidance counsellor immediately if your academic data is inaccurate.
Certain information is supplied automatically on behalf of students by their school or school board. However, other information, such as supporting documentation, must be provided by the student when required by the universities. Applicants should therefore read all instructions carefully and ensure that this documentation is received at the universities by the applicable deadline.
