YOUR LIBRARY
Your school library is a separate and unique learning space, unlike any other classroom in your school. In this space your learning is self-directed and independent. For this reason, it is important that library users behave in a way that allows all students to get the most out of their time in the library.
It is expected that while in the library students are doing something that is productive (like leisure reading, computer research, group-based work). Students should also make sure that they are behaving in a way that allows others to be productive. Cell phones, mp3 players and the like are therefore not permitted. Being respectful of others and their property is key to getting the most out of your library experience.
In your school library, we encourage students to make use of all the resources available to them. Not only can you enjoy the library space as a quiet retreat for study and leisure reading, you also have access to several print and online services. Come to your library before class, during your lunch and after school to read a newspaper, magazine, a novel or conduct course research. Becoming an information literate student is one of the important skills you can develop at your school library.
