Staff Faith Development

Staff pastoral team will meet several times over the year to identify and attempt to meet some of the spiritual needs of our staff.  The main identified need is staff community-building and positive relationships.  Through our Faith Day afternoon activity as well as ongoing staff breakfast socials, staff meeting social time, and after-school “C.O.D.” outings, we will attempt to meet this identified need.  Staff will also be invited to participate in mini-retreats organized by the pastoral team, such as an Advent and Lent after-school meditation.  Each P.A. or P.D. day will include a prayer or liturgy component, and other staff liturgies (such as November 1st) will be organized during non-work hours.

It is our hope that all teachers will continue to show integrity by bringing faith into the classroom both by starting class with a spiritual reflection or prayer and by incorporating faith into curriculum.  We also expect that support staff and administration will contribute to a strong faith-based environment.  Staff members are required to positively support all full-school faith activities such as student liturgies in our cafeteria which replace teaching time.

All staff members will be provided with adequate supplies for classroom prayer centres during Advent and Lent, and will be required to begin class with a special in-class prayer service twice a week during these special liturgical seasons.  Each department will have one staff member designated as the “faith rep” to ensure that supplies are available for prayer centres.

We encourage all staff members, students, parents, and parish community members to continually pray for our Notre Dame school community and its needs.
