TRANSPORTATION POLICY

Transportation is provided for students who reside more than the following distances by road, path, or walkway from the school they are eligible to attend.

Kindergarten 1.0 km

Grades 1-4 1.6 km

Grades 5 & 6 2.0 km

Grades 7 & 8 3.2 km

In our school’s catchment area only students in grades JK – 6 residing in the Guildwood and Huntington subdivision are eligible.

EMPTY SEAT POLICY

This policy is coordinated and administered by the school. Applications should be made to the Principal/Vice-Principal who at his/her discretion will approve applications for transportation effective the middle of October. Empty seat riders must use an existing stop location; no new stops will be added to the run. Priority will be granted according to the youngest and furthest applicants.

All students riding the school bus will be required to carry their bus pass with them at all times and follow all bus safety rules.

TRANSPORTATION CANCELLATION

Transportation may be cancelled due to poor weather conditions. This normally occurs before school begins in the morning and is announced on the following radio stations:

CHUM 1050 CKFM 99.9

CFRB 1010 CFNY 102.1

CJCL 590 TALK 640

CFTO ENERY FM 93.1

CBC 740 CHEZ Z97.3

CFTR 680 CHF I98.1

CHIN 100.7FM CJMR/CHWO 1250

Our school board is the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board.

If bus transportation is cancelled in the morning, it also follows that children WILL NOT be picked up at the end of the day. If you drive your child to school on the day the transportation is cancelled, it is then your responsibility to pick your child up at the end of the day. When transportation services are cancelled, the school remains open and it is the responsibility of the parent to determine whether or not it is safe for a student to walk to and from school.
